Local Catch Monterey Bay (LCMB) offers weekly distributions of sustainably caught local seafood.  In order for you to gain the most from your LCMB community supported fishery (CSF) experience, please read the following document carefully as it outlines the policies that keep our CSF working smoothly for all of our members.


The Full Bounty Share is $22 each week and will usually feed 2-4 people depending on serving size (usually between 1-1.5 lbs of fish). Our select share, the CA Classic, is $26 each week, and will also feed 2-4 people depending on serving size. 
All new members will pay an $8 sign up fee.  This is to offset the cost of providing you with a reusable, insulated cooler bag, as well as to support other site equipment (coolers, blackboards, etc.).

About Our Fish
All seafood will be primarily sourced from the CA Central Coast (Monterey Bay ports whenever possible) and will be caught sustainably.

Large finfish species (halibut, salmon, albacore tuna, etc.) will generally be filleted.  We cannot guarantee that fillets will be free of bones!  Smaller finfish species will be provided either whole or as fillets depending on member preference.  We will always try to provide fillets or whole fish according to member preference, but it may not always be possible depending on the size on the fish and our processing capabilities.  For seafood other than finfish (oysters, squid, crab, etc.), the share you receive will be delivered whole or with only minimal processing.  Don’t worry, we will provide clear instructions on what to do!

LCMB cannot guarantee the delivery of specific seafood products at specific times in specific quantities.  Fishing is inherently unpredictable, and we are committed to local sourcing.  If weather or other conditions prevent our fishermen suppliers from catching marketable product, LCMB will notify you and your account will not be charged for the value of the missed weekly share.

Local Catch Monterey Bay CSF operates year-round, and shares can be purchased at any time.  You must sign up and we must receive your payment four days before your first desired pickup date. For example, for a first share on Tuesday, sign up by Friday at midnight.  We will deliver local seafood to your pickup location every week, unless we notify you that supply is limiting, or that we are canceling that week’s share due to a major holiday or other circumstance.

As a LCMB member, it is your responsibility to pick up your weekly share of seafood from your chosen pickup location during the designated time frame.  LCMB does not coordinate nor allow after hours pickups.  If you do not pick up your share within the distribution time frame, it will be donated to an interested party or facility.  Here are some options if you can’t pick-up:

·Donate your share to the site host – requires no action from you.

·Make arrangements to have someone pick up your share and check off your name on the sign-in sheet.    They can save it for you, or you can offer it to them as a fantastic gift!

·For your convenience, there is a message board on our website where you can swap/trade/buy shares with other members.  Please make your arrangements directly with the other members.

If You CANNOT Pick Up Your Share for an Upcoming Delivery
Contact us by email by the Friday before the pick-up date you know you will not be able to use your share (e.g. a vacation).  Please provide us with exact dates and be sure to tell us whose name the account is under.  We will place your account on “hold,” and funds will not be deducted from your account balance for the weeks that you cannot pick up.

Getting Your Fish Home
We will provide you with an insulated cooler bag when you first join LCMB, which is covered in an $8 sign-up fee.  Please bring the bag with you to the pickup site each week.  Your share of fish will be packed in a larger cooler, and you will transfer it to your cooler bag at the time of pick-up. You are responsible for all seafood after picking it up!  Fish needs to stay chilled until you are ready to eat it.  LCMB cannot be responsible for product that was inadequately stored following pickup.

LCMB uses a web-based software program called Farmigo to process and manage our shares. On Farmigo you will create a unique account, be able to track and make payments, and modify your subscription in a few easy steps!  When you make a purchase, you commit to buying 4, 8, 12, 24, or 48 weeks of shares at that time.  We do this for consistency – we need to know how many shareholders to buy fish for.  As an LCMB member, you agree to pay your account in a timely manner and keep your membership account information up to date.

Payment Types
We accept payment via ACH / electronic check (our preferred method), credit cards, and personal checks.  For orders by check, the order still must be completed via the Farmigo website.  Checks should then be mailed to Local Catch Monterey Bay, 141 10th St, Pacific Grove, CA, 93950.  If you choose to pay by check, please indicate in the “memo” section of the check the name under whom the LCMB account is listed.

Automatic Payments
Our online ordering platform is set up to enroll those paying by credit card or e-check in our automatic payment plan.  You will automatically be charged whenever your account level reaches $0.   For example, if you initially pay for 12 weeks, you will be charged for another 12 weeks after the first 12 deliveries (usually at midnight following the last delivery).  This will ensure that your account is paid in a timely fashion so that you never miss a delivery.  It is the member’s responsibility to contact us by email or phone in advance if for some reason they do not want this payment to occur.

Manual Payment
Members paying by paper check will not be able to participate in automatically recurring payments.  If you choose this option, you will receive an email letting you know when it’s time to renew your balance.

What Happens After I Join?
Upon signing up, a confirmation of your account, pickup location details and start date will be automatically emailed to you.  For Tuesday delivery, new accounts must be paid by the previous Friday.  Orders placed after Friday will be placed on hold until the following week.  You will receive additional information from LCMB on the contents of your share the day before it arrives.

Updating Your Farmigo Account
You can log onto the Farmigo website at any time to access or modify your account by clicking here: http://csa.farmigo.com/account/localcatchmonterey/csf

You will be able to see your remaining account balance, switch pick-up location, and change your subscription type or size.  Switching pick-up location and adding subscriptions are actions that must be completed by the Friday before a Tuesday delivery in order to take effect.  You will receive an email confirmation confirming any changes.

LCMB CSF communicates with its members mainly through email and blogging, including our weekly blog that includes information on the fish, recipes, tips for handling seafood items, fishermen profiles, policy or schedule changes, and the like.   An archive of our weekly updates is available at http://www.localcatchmontereybay.com.

As an LCMB member, you understand that it is your responsibility to open and read the emails (including payment notices) so that you stay informed. If your email address or any other contact information changes, you will contact localcatchmontereybay@gmail.com or (831) 345-5153.

Suspension of Service
Your weekly share of fish will not be delivered if you do not have funds in your Farmigo account to cover the price of that week’s share.  If we do not receive a timely payment from you, you will receive an email letting you know that your service has been suspended.  If you make a payment after this time, you need to wait for email notification of your next delivery.   Restarting is as easy as joining – just follow the same link.  As with new memberships, restarting your CSF delivery requires four days for processing.  You will always receive an email alerting you if fish will be delivered to you that week.  If you do not receive any fish, there will be no charge for delivery that week. 

The purchase of LCMB shares involves a commitment to a season of fishing (“season” is defined as the number of prepaid weeks you select at signup), and shares are non-refundable.  If you believe you have a special circumstance that prevents you from fulfilling your commitment, please contact us at localcatchmontereybay@gmail.com or (831) 345-5153.  Decisions regarding refunds will be made on an individual basis.
